Deductive Argument

An argument form that presents a conclusion as being a logical certainty given the premises.

A deductive argument is Valid if the premises are true and the conclusion logically follows. For example:

Premise 1- William Riker is a cat
Premise 2- All cats are Orions
Conclusion- William Riker is an Orion

A deductive argument is Sound when the premises are true and the conclusion logically follows. For example:

Premise 1- Johnathan Frakes is a human
Premise 2- All humans are mortal
Conclusion- Johnathan Frakes is mortal
